Blue Jackets Recognize Hockey Fights Cancer Night with OhioHealth Saturday
COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets and the team's charitable foundation recognize the National Hockey League's Hockey Fights Cancer™ Awareness Month with a special Hockey Fights Cancer Night in partnership with OhioHealth on Saturday, Oct. 17 when the Jackets host the Los Angeles Kings at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

In support of the Blue Jackets Foundation's signature program, Hats For Heroes, and its mission to fight pediatric cancer, the Foundation will host more than 20 pediatric cancer heroes and their families during Saturday's game. Throughout the night, many young heroes will participate in pre-game and in-game activities such as the puck drop, Zamboni rides, visits to the team radio broadcast booth and other unique opportunities. Following the game, several Blue Jackets players will visit with the families.

The heroes and their families will also be involved by selling Hats For Heroes hats and T-shirts at several locations throughout Nationwide Arena. Thanks to a generous donation by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #9 and Relay Gear, 100% of the hat sales will directly benefit the Foundation's pediatric cancer research initiatives.

Also on Saturday, the Blue Jackets welcome survivors and supporters representing Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, I[2]y and the Young Survival Coalition.

This year, the League's Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Month is identified by the color lavender. During Saturday's game, fans will notice coaches and broadcasters donning lavender Hockey Fights Cancer ties while players will wear Hockey Fights Cancer decals on their helmets during all regular-season games in October. Finally, the Blue Jackets front office personnel and guest services staff will also show their support for the cause by wearing lavender ribbons.
