Brassard Will Play Here in Atlanta Tonight!
November 5
The Blue Jackets had no intention of bringing Derick Brassard on the road for their back-to-back start here in Atlanta tonight, but after a brief discussion between coach Hitchcock and the player they had a change of heart. Not only did the talented center make the trip, but after this morning's skate the decision was made to put him back in the lineup! I thought watching Brass in the optional skate this morning he looked good and got the green light from the training and coaching staff to play. Brassard told me he hopes he has his legs tonight and he will need them against the speedy Thrashers club!
Meantime, the Jackets announced that they have placed Kristian Huselius on IR and have recalled Alexandre Picard from Syracuse. Picard is not expected to play this evening.
Mathieu Garron will get the back-to-back start in net tonight with Steve Mason, much improved over his last three starts, going Saturday night back in Columbus against the Carolina Hurricanes.
