Columbus Blue Jackets Add Defenseman Mathieu Roy on Emergency Recall from the AHL's Syracuse Crunch

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added defenseman Mathieu Roy to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced December 1.

Roy (pronounced WAH) was added to the roster on emergency recall from Syracuse earlier this season on October 3 and tallied four assists and a +1 plus/minus rating in seven games with the club. In 13 games with the Crunch this season, he has collected 0-4-4 and 32 penalty minutes.

Roy, 26, signed with the Blue Jackets as a free agent on July 14, 2009 after spending five years in the Edmonton Oilers organization. He has tallied 2-9-11 and 57 penalty minutes in 44 career NHL games. He has also registered 16-79-95 and 422 penalty minutes in 254 career American Hockey League games with Toronto, Edmonton, Hamilton and Springfield. In 2008-09, he notched 2-15-17 and 120 penalty minutes in 59 games with Springfield.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks. Game time from United Center is 8 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live nationally on VERSUS. The game will also be broadcast live on the Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101, and online at BlueJackets.com.
