Quebec Pee Wee Jackets Update V: Feb. 15, 2010
Québec City, Quebec (Feb. 15, 2010) - Exhibition Game 2: After a "wicked awesome" (according to the Bruin team who was also visiting) day at the Snow Park, the players, and very sore parents, made their way to Val-Belair to take on the Moncton Wildcats. The Wildcats play out of Moncton, New Brunswick and are associated with their namesake in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
After a scoreless first period saw the Jackets pepper their opponents with shots, but stymied by the Wildcats goalie, Jack Roslovic gave the Jackets a second period lead with an unassisted goal. Grant Powell and the Jacket's team defense held Moncton scoreless the rest of the way and Cam Sangster tallied, with assists from Dillon Miller and Zach Tyson. The insurance goal in the third period gave the team a 2-0 victory. That night, the players and their families hosted a dinner for the billet families, attended by 75 people.
Tearful speeches, hugs, O-H-I-O chants, and the boy's presentation of gift baskets to their billet families made for a night with new friends that is the core of the Quebec tournament: local families generously opening their homes to the players and the Quebec team moving forward together, from players, to parents, to coaches, to billets, to bus driver.
