Columbus Blue Jackets Prospect Maksim Mayorov Named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Maksim Mayorov has been named Reebok/AHL Rookie of the Week for week ending April 11, the American Hockey League announced April 12.
Mayorov, 21, registered six goals and three assists for nine points in three games last week. He scored 1-2-3 in Syracuse’s 3-1 win over league-leading Hershey on Tuesday. On Friday, he scored the first hat trick of his professional career in a 5-4 overtime loss to Hamilton. He followed that game with 2-1-3 this past Saturday in a 5-2 win over Rochester.
The Andizhan, Russia native was scoreless in four games with the Blue Jackets this season. He made his NHL debut last season with the Blue Jackets at St. Louis on January 3 and was scoreless in three games with the club. He registered 17-15-32 and 24 penalty minutes in 74 games with the Crunch this season. Columbus’ fifth pick, 94th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft, he has registered 34-29-63 and 54 penalty minutes in 145 career AHL games.
