CBJ Prospect Profiles: Summer 2010

Petr Straka was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2nd round (55th overall) in 2010.

In 2009-10, Straka played in 62 games for the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL, recording 28-36-64, while adding 54 minutes in penalties. In 12 playoff games this spring, Straka had 5-9-14. He played for Team Orr at the 2010 CHL Top Prospects Game and won QMJHL Rookie of the Year, the Michael Bergeron Trophy (Offensive Rookie of the Year), and was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

In 2008-09, Straka played in 26 games for the Plzen Jr. of the Czech Jr. League. He scored 13-10-23 and 6 penalty minutes.

Tomas Kubalik was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 5th round (135th overall) in 2008.

In 2009-10, Kubalik played in 58 games for the Victoriaville Tigers of the QMJHL. He scored 33-42-75 to go along with a +16 rating and 95 penalty minutes in his first season in North America. In 16 playoff games, he recorded 4-10-14 with eight penalty minutes. He was part of Team Czech Republic in the World Junior Championships and recorded 4-5-9 in six games.

In 2008-09, Kubalik played in 32 games for the Plzen HC of the Czech League. He scored 1-1-2 and 64 penalty minutes. In 17 playoff games, he recorded 1-0-1 and eight penalty minutes. In 2007-08, Kubalik played in 20 games for Plzen HC and scored 2-1-3 and added eight penalty minutes. In 2006-07, Kubalik played in 23 games for the Plzen HC of the Czech League tallying 1-0-1 and had 18 penalty minutes.
