COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Anton Stralman to a one-year contract, General Manager Scott Howson announced July 28. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Stralman, who turns 24 on August 1, tallied six goals and 28 assists for 34 points with 37 penalty minutes in 73 games with the Blue Jackets last season, leading club defensemen in assists and points and ranking second in goals and time on ice (20:29). He also tied for second on the club in power play scoring with 4-18-22 after joining the club on Sept. 28, 2009 in a trade with Calgary that sent a third round pick in the 2010 Entry Draft to the Flames.

"We are pleased that we were able to come to a negotiated settlement," said Howson. "We look forward to having Anton back on our blueline this season."

Stralman has collected 10-46-56 and 75 penalty minutes in 161 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Toronto Maple Leafs. He registered 1-12-13 and 20 penalty minutes in 38 games with the Maple Leafs in 2008-09 and notched 3-6-9 and 18 penalty minutes in 50 games as a rookie in 2007-08.

The Tibro, Sweden native was Toronto's fifth pick, 216th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Flames with Colin Stewart and Toronto's seventh round pick in the 2012 Entry Draft for Wayne Primeau and Calgary's second round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft on July 27, 2009.
