Columbus Blue Jackets Trim Training Camp Roster by 10 Players
Nine players assigned to Springfield (AHL); Gabriel released from tryout and returned to junior club
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets trimmed their training camp roster by to 10 players September 29, Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced. The current training camp roster consists of 38 players.
Forwards Matt Calvert and Chad Kolarik, defensemen Steven Delisle, Cody Goloubef, Brent Regner and Theo Ruth, and goaltender Daren Machesney were each assigned to the Springfield Falcons, Columbus's American Hockey League affiliate, while forward Trevor Frischmon and defenseman Jonathan Sigalet were placed on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to Springfield. In addition, forward Oliver Gabriel was released from his tryout contract and returned to the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks.
The Blue Jackets continue preseason action on Thursday when they visit the Minnesota Wild. Game time from Xcel Energy Center is 7 p.m. ET. The game can be heard on the Wheeling Island Hotel & Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network on The Fan at 1460 AM and online at BlueJackets.com. The game will also be televised on tape delay on the NHL Network at 11 p.m. Thursday and again on Friday, Oct. 1 at 4 a.m., 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
