Columbus Blue Jackets Announce Central Hockey League Affiliation Agreement with Fort Wayne Komets for 2010-11
Komets to serve as CHL affiliate of Blue Jackets and American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced October 7 that the club has reached an agreement with the Fort Wayne Komets to serve as the Central Hockey League affiliate for the Blue Jackets and the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons for the 2010-11 season.
"We are very pleased to add the Fort Wayne Komets as an affiliate for this season," said Blue Jackets Assistant General Manager Chris MacFarland. "Player development is critical for an organization to achieve long-term success and Fort Wayne will provide a tremendous opportunity for some of our young players to gain valuable experience."
The Komets were founded in 1952 and are in their first season in the CHL. A member of the original International Hockey League from 1952-99, the franchise then played in the United Hockey League from 1999-07 when the UHL took over the IHL name. The Komets play their home games at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Single-game tickets for all Blue Jackets' regular season games, including the Friday, Oct. 15 home opener vs. the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, are on sale now.
