COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Jared Boll on Injured Reserve retroactive to October 8 and added defenseman Nate Guenin to the roster on emergency recall from the Springfield Falcons, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Guenin is expected to join the club in time for tonight’s game at Minnesota.

Boll was injured during the Blue Jackets’ season-opening game vs. the San Jose Sharks in Stockholm, Sweden on October 8 and is listed as day-to-day. The 24-year-old has registered 13-18-31 and 560 penalty minutes in 219 career games with Columbus.

Guenin, 27, has registered two assists and six penalty minutes in 14 career NHL games with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh during his four-year professional career. Last season, he appeared in two games with the Penguins and combined to tally 5-13-18, 98 penalty minutes and was +11 in 68 AHL games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Peoria Rivermen, including 2-11-13, 35 penalty minutes and +14 in 27 games after joining Peoria. He has tallied two penalty minutes and is +1 in four games with Springfield this season and has collected 12-49-61, 433 penalty minutes in 279 career AHL games.

The Sewickley, Pennsylvania native played two seasons with Green Bay of the United States Hockey League before being the third pick, 127th overall, of the New York Rangers in the 2002 Entry Draft. He played the next four seasons at The Ohio State University, registering 6-47-53 and 400 penalty minutes in 151 games from 2002-06. As a junior in 2004-05, Guenin earned CCHA Second Team All-Star honors after notching 2-12-14 and 136 penalty minutes in 41 games.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Minnesota Wild. Game time from Xcel Energy Center is 8 p.m. ET.
