The Blue Jackets will be looking for a split in their home and home series with the Red Wings here in Detroit in a rare 5 p.m. start at Joe Louis Arena.

Again, the Jackets I thought played well enough to win Friday at Nationwide but they MUST find a way to connect on the power play. They went 0-for-5 on the man-advantage and I believe had they connected on any of the five the final result might have been different. The Jackets certainly did a solid job defensively.

Just think, when you keep the likes of Datsyuk and Zetterberg, two prolific scorers against the Blue Jackets, off the score sheet one would think you would have a pretty good chance of victory. And the Jackets did! Give credit tho to Jimmy Howard, who not unlike Steve Mason, was outstanding in the Detroit net by stopping 34 of 35 shots. Not surprisingly, both goaltenders will start for their respective teams again today.

The Blue Jackets are 8-1-0 on the road this season, their best start in franchise history away from Nationwide. Talking to Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel the other day, I asked him about the Jackets road record and about their success. His reply, "We play a simple game on the road, we are not out to entertain." Adding, "At home we try and put on a show, while on the road it's hard to match lines. We've gained confidence on the road with our consistent play."

Again it is a 5 p.m. start in HD on FOX Sports Ohio.
