Columbus Blue Jackets Sign Defenseman Nick Holden to One-Year, Two-Way NHL-American Hockey League Contract

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Nick Holden to a one-year, two-way NHL-American Hockey League contract, Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Holden, 24, made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets against the Anaheim Ducks on October 20 and was scoreless in five games with the club in 2010-11. He tallied 4-21-25, 63 penalty minutes and was +2 in 67 games with the Springfield Falcons, Columbus' AHL affiliate, last season and ranked second among club defensemen in assists and points.
Holden signed with Columbus as a free agent on March 28, 2008 and tallied 6-17-23 and 52 penalty minutes in 68 games with the Crunch in 2008-09. The St. Albert, Alberta native has registered 14-56-70 and 163 penalty minutes in 197 career AHL games. Prior to his professional career, he notched 30-61-91 and 116 penalty minutes in 137 games with the Western Hockey League's Chilliwack Bruins.
