COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced July 13 that the club has reached an agreement with the Chicago Express to serve as the East Coast Hockey League affiliate for the Blue Jackets and the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons for the 2011-12 season.
"We are very pleased to add the Chicago Express as an affiliate for this season." said Blue Jackets Assistant General Manager Chris MacFarland. "Player development is critical for an organization to achieve long term success and Chicago will provide a tremendous opportunity for some of our young players to gain valuable experience. It should be an exciting season and we really look forward to a great year with the Express."
The Express was founded in September 2010 and will play its first season in the ECHL in 2011-12. The Express will play their home games at Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The building opened in October 2006 and seats 9,400 for hockey.
