Jackets, OhioHealth Renew Partnership

Multi-year partnership is highlighted by name entitlement of Ice Haus at Nationwide Arena and suburban Chiller Ice Rinks

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets and OhioHealth announced today the multi-year renewal of the Championship-level corporate partnership between the National Hockey League club and the Columbus-based family of healthcare organizations. The extension, which ensures the partnership through the 2015-16 NHL season, is highlighted by naming rights to the team’s attached practice facility, the Ice Haus, as well as the group of suburban Chiller Ice Rinks, including Chiller Ice Works. OhioHealth, a team partner since the 2000-01 inaugural season, is the exclusive official healthcare provider of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Name entitlement for the Ice Haus at Nationwide Arena, Chiller Easton, Chiller Dublin, Chiller North in Lewis Center and Chiller Ice Works in Worthington encompasses a wide variety of signage specific to each venue. The presence within the Ice Haus will further extend to in-ice logos as well as a branded Zamboni® ice resurfacing machine.

Another new element of the integrated marketing partnership is the addition of an OhioHealth logo patch on the team’s practice jerseys, marking the first time a Blue Jackets sponsor will have presence on the players’ practice jerseys.

The agreement marks the continuation of OhioHealth as the presenting sponsor of Blue Jackets training camp in September. Throughout the duration of camp, OhioHealth will have a variety of messaging and signage opportunities during all practice sessions at the Ice Haus and Nationwide Arena.

OhioHealth will also continue to exclusively provide the team of physicians and athletic trainers responsible for the medical care of the Blue Jackets players and related personnel.

“We’re very pleased to announce this extension and the many new elements of the renewed partnership. It brings great comfort to our organization knowing that OhioHealth’s medical team will remain behind ‘our team.’ We are excited about OhioHealth’s presence across new platforms that will showcase their ongoing commitment to our team, our fans and our community,” said Mike Priest, president of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

“We're very excited to continue our relationship with the Blue Jackets,” said Dave Blom, president and CEO of OhioHealth. “As the official healthcare provider for the Blue Jackets since day one, we look forward to working with them for years to come on the ice and at community health events that fans have come to know over the years. We have stood with the Blue Jackets since the first puck hit the ice and hope to be with them all the way to the Stanley Cup!”

Traditional elements of the partnership include an extensive inventory of in-arena signage and electronic messaging within Nationwide Arena, as well as the addition of branded pillars on the concourse. In addition to print and broadcast inventory, the agreement also calls for increased Web presence in the form of presenting sponsorship of Jackets TV, the online video player on BlueJackets.com, and the addition of content specific to sports medicine.

Another component of the partnership involves a series of Awareness Nights in which OhioHealth uses Blue Jackets games as a platform to promote a specific health issue or cause. In the past, the series has been highlighted by collaboration with the Blue Jackets Foundation on the annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night in conjunction with the National Hockey League’s Hockey Fights Cancer™ Awareness Month in October.
