Columbus Blue Jackets Prospect Anton Forsberg Named to Sweden\'s National Junior Team for the 2012 World Junior Championships

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Anton Forsberg was among 23 players selected to comprise Sweden’s National Junior Team at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships in Edmonton and Calgary from December 26 through January 5, 2012.

Forsberg, 19, was the Blue Jackets’ sixth pick, 188th overall, at last June’s Entry Draft held at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has played in seven games this season with Modo of the Swedish Elite League, posting a 3.30 goals-against average and .890 save percentage. He has also appeared in six games with Modo (Sweden Jr.) and has a 2.34 GAA and .918 SV%. The 6-foot-2, 176-pound native of Ornskoldsvik, Sweden appeared in 33 games and had a 2.90 GAA and .907 SV% for Modo (Sweden Jr.) in 2010-11.

Sweden’s National Junior Team is slotted in Group A (Calgary) with Russia, Switzerland, Slovakia and Latvia. The team will play its first game of the tournament against Latvia on December 26 at Scotiabank Saddledome. Group B (Edmonton) consists of Canada, United States, Finland, Czech Republic and Denmark.

The Blue Jackets return to action Tuesday when the club visits the Montreal Canadians. Game time from Bell Centre is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
