Jan. 10 – at Chicago 5, BLUE JACKETS 2: Viktor Stalberg scored two goals to break a 1-1 tie and added an empty net goal for the hat trick to lead the Blackhawks to the win. The Blue Jackets, who outshot Chicago 34 to 25 in the game, got goals from R.J. Umberger and Antoine Vermette and a pair of assists from Aaron Johnson. Corey Crawford made 32 saves in net for Chicago, while Curtis Sanford stopped 20-of-24 shots for Columbus in the debut of interim head coach Todd Richards… Jan. 13 – at BLUE JACKETS 4, Phoenix 3: Derick Brassard scored the game-winner and added an assist and Ryan Russell and Tomas Kubalik each scored their first career NHL goals to lift Columbus to the win. After Adrian Aucoin gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead 1:49 into the game, the Jackets stormed back to take a 3-1 lead on goals by Kubalik, Rick Nash and Russell. Phoenix’s Lauri Korpikoski and Radim Vrbata wrapped goals around Brassard’s tally at 18:36 of the second to round out the scoring. Curtis Sanford earned the win in net with 32 saves… Jan. 14 – SAN JOSE 2, at BLUE JACKETS 1: Patrick Marleau scored at 17:03 of the third period as the Sharks improved to 4-0-3 in their last seven road games. San Jose took a 1-0 lead on a Ryan Clowe power play goal at 14:59 of the second before the Jackets tied the game on a goal by Rick Nash 6:53 into the third period. Thomas Greiss earned the win in net with 25 saves, while Curtis Sanford made 31 saves for the Jackets.

JACKETS ADD COLTON GILLIES OFF WAIVERS FROM MINNESOTA
Columbus claimed LW Colton Gillies off waivers from the Minnesota Wild on Jan. 14. He collected 0-2-2 and 10 penalty minutes in 37 games this season and has 3-7-10 and 30 penalty minutes in 89 career NHL games. Minnesota’s first pick, 16th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft, he has registered 19-35-54 and 159 penalty minutes in 147 AHL games with the Houston Aeros. The White Rock, British Columbia native recorded 44-47-91 and 310 penalty minutes in 195 career WHL games with the Saskatoon Blades and helped Canada win the gold medal at the 2008 World Junior Championships.
JOHANSEN AMONG 12 ROOKIES SELECTED TO APPEAR AT ALL-STAR WEEKEND
C Ryan Johansen was one of 12 rookies selected last week to participate at the 2012 NHL All-Star Weekend, January 26-29, in Ottawa. The 12 rookies, along with the 42 All-Stars, will participate in the 2012 Molson Canadian NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday, January 28 at Scotiabank Place (7 p.m.). Johansen, 19, has tallied 7-8-15 with 18 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in 38 games this season. He becomes the seventh Blue Jacket selected to participate at NHL All-Star Weekend, joining Rick Nash (2004, 2007-09, 2011 All-Star Game; 2003 YoungStars Game), Ray Whitney (2003 ASG), Espen Knutsen (2002 ASG), Steve Mason (2009 YSG-did not play due to injury), Nikolai Zherdev (2004 YSG) and Rostislav Klesla (2002/injured and 2003 YSG).
UMBERGER’S CBJ RECORD IRON MAN STREAK COMES TO AN END
LW R.J. Umberger had his club-record consecutive games played streak end at 288 when he missed last Friday’s game vs. Phoenix due to an upper body injury. He had not missed a game since joining the club prior to the 2008-09 season and his personal streak reached 291 games since it began on Apr. 2, 2008 vs. Pittsburgh while he was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. The longest current streak among Blue Jackets belongs to C Antoine Vermette, who has played in 225-straight games since joining the club in a trade from Ottawa. His streak as a Jacket began on Mar. 4, 2009.
NASH TO HAVE JERSEY RETIRED FRIDAY BY OHL’S LONDON KNIGHTS
Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash will return to London, Ontario on Friday night as his junior club, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, will retire his jersey No. 61 before their game vs. Owen Sound. Nash, who is the Blue Jackets’ all-time leader in goals, assists, points and games played with 275-244-519 in 636 games, registered 63-75-138 and 144 penalty minutes in 112 career games with the Knights from 2000-02. Columbus selected the Brampton, Ontario native with the first overall pick of the 2002 Entry Draft and Nash made his debut with the club the following season at the age of 18.
RW Rick Nash has tallied 11-5-16 in his last 23 games, including 6-1-7 in the last eight, compared to 5-10-15 in his first 21 outings this season… C Derick Brassard has racked up 4-5-9 in his last 12 games compared to 2-3-5 in his first 24 games… C Antoine Vermette has picked up 2-3-5 in his last eight games after being held to 3-2-5 in his previous 19 games… D Aaron Johnson has his career-best three-game points streak (0-4-4) snapped vs. San Jose on Jan. 14… G Curtis Sanford has made 30 or more saves in six of his last seven starts, stopping 202-of-217 shots (.931 SV%) during that span.
