Columbus Blue Jackets Activate Center Jeff Carter Off Injured Reserve; Place D Nikita Nikitin on Injured Reserve
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets activated center Jeff Carter off injured reserve and placed defenseman Nikita Nikitin on injured reserve, retroactive to January 21, Blue Jackets Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Nikitin suffered a knee injury at Detroit on January 21 and is listed as week-to-week.
Carter, 27, has missed the last 10 games due to a shoulder injury suffered at Anaheim on January 8. He has registered 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points and 12 penalty minutes 30 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He leads the club in power play goals (five), while ranking second in goals and seventh in points. In 491 career NHL games, he has collected 191-169-360 with 300 penalty minutes and a +42 plus/minus rating with Columbus and Philadelphia.
The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when they visit the Anaheim Ducks. Game time from Honda Center is set for 10 p.m. ET.
