Columbus Blue Jackets Claim C Darryl Boyce Off Waivers from Toronto Maple Leafs
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed center Darryl Boyce off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced February 25.
Boyce, 27, has recorded one goal and one assist for two points and 16 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Maple Leafs, while adding 4-6-10 and 22 penalty minutes in 22 games for the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies this season. He has collected 6-9-15, 49 penalty minutes and has a cumulative plus/minus rating of +5 in 64 career NHL games. In 191 career AHL games, he has notched 32-59-91, 320 penalty minutes and a +9 plus/minus rating.
A native of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Boyce spent four seasons with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors of the Ontario Hockey League and tallied 54-91-145 and 452 penalty minutes in 262 career games from 2001-05. He then spent two seasons at the University of New Brunswick and totaled 29-36-65 and 113 penalty minutes in 53 games. He was signed as a free agent by the Maple Leafs on January 1, 2008.
The Blue Jackets return to action Sunday when the club visits the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game time from CONSOL Energy Center is set for 1 p.m. ET.
