Blue Jackets Celebrate Local Hockey History and Recognize Columbus Chill's 20th Anniversary on Friday, March 30
In-game elements to include video celebrating the city’s minor league hockey history, ceremonial puck drop by members of the Chill’s All-Time Team
COLUMBUS, OHIO – In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Columbus Chill’s inaugural season, the Columbus Blue Jackets will recognize the influential history of the former East Coast Hockey League franchise on Friday, March 30 when the Jackets host the Florida Panthers. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m.
Highlights of the evening will include a ceremonial puck drop featuring four members of the Chill’s All-Time Team – Lance Brady, Derek Clancey, Jeff Salajko and Rob Schriner – as well as a video tribute that honors the Chill and also recognizes the city’s earliest minor league teams including the Columbus Checkers (1966-70), Columbus Seals (1971-73) and Columbus Owls (1973-77). In addition, several other Chill alumni will be in attendance and participating in various in-game activities.
The Blue Jackets game kicks off a full weekend of Chill Reunion festivities including a post-game party at the LC Pavilion on March 30; a youth hockey clinic at OhioHealth Chiller Dublin on Saturday, March 31; and a Chill Reunion game at OhioHealth Chiller North also on March 31.
