Umberger's personal note to the CBJ faithful on why he should be on the cover of EA SPORTS NHL13.

R.J. Umberger of your Columbus Blue Jackets has been selected as our representative in the EA SPORTS NHL13 Cover Vote!
R.J. wanted to personally address the CBJ faithful to explain why he thinks you should vote for him to be on the cover of EA SPORTS NHL13 -- so he got out his camera and shot this himself:
Now that you've seen the video, we wanted to give you a little background on the phrase "Because I'm Umby, Dammit!"
Beginning in 1982, Eddie Murphy began a parody of Gumby on Saturday Night Live. According to Murphy’s parody, when the television cameras were turned off, the sweet Gumby reverted to his true self: a cigar chomping, irascible celebrity who was highly demanding of the production executives. Whenever the executives refused to give into his demands, Gumby would assert his star status by saying “I’m Gumby, Dammit.”
But how does that relate to us? Read on...
We called upon one of our Blue Jackets Community Leaders, Matt Wagner (@bzarcher and editor for the site JacketsCannon.com), to give us the scoop on the phrase that caught fire!
"The phrase "He's Umby, Dammit" started on Twitter and through some blog comments back in late 2010/early 2011.
Starting in late December, R.J. was a major force for the team, including several multi-game scoring streaks, and fans responded. I'm not honestly sure who the first person to use the phrase was, but it was embraced almost immediately. Fans used it in our game posts, it became a Twitter hash tag, and it was even used by press covering the games!
It represents the way he's been such a clutch player for the team since his arrival in Columbus, and at the same time the "blue collar", have a beer, hard working, regular guy aspect to his personality and the way fans have connected with him."
