Hey everyone,
Cam here again for my second blog entry from the World Championship. Our last game was a 5-4 overtime win over Canada, and it was a really exciting game. We knew we needed to play a way better game than we did against France, and use our speed to our advantage because we're a fast team. We also wanted to stay out of the box because Canada has some serious offensive skill. Overall, we played a pretty good game and it was awesome beating Canada.
The USA vs. Canada rivalry is huge. The energy and adrenaline is very high the night before the game, and obviously the day of the game, too. All day long, you're just waiting to get to the rink and start the game. There is nothing better than the first drop of the puck!
I wasn't nervous, just really excited to get it going because I heard the tempo of the game is through the roof, and you get a chance to play against some of the best players and talent in the world. My line definitely played a lot better and more comfortable against Canada, but that's what's going to happen as each game goes on and the chemistry builds.
After the game, we were excited but still have a ways to go. The towns over here are really different from what I'm used to. Everyone is so nice when you're out and walking around. There's a lot of different shopping stores right next to our hotel, which is nice. The culture is obviously different, but it's exciting to learn it and try and figure out what people are saying to you.
Our next game is Today against Slovakia at 8:15 over here (1:15 p.m. in the U.S.). Thanks for reading!
