Jackets Sign D Austin Madaisky to Entry Level Contract
Madaisky was Blue Jackets' sixth pick, 124th overall in 2010 Entry Draft
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Austin Madaisky to a standard three-year entry level contract, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced today.
Madaisky (pronounced muh-DAY-skee), 20, registered 13 goals and 37 assists for 50 points, had 87 penalty minutes and a +20 plus/minus rating in 70 games with Kamloops of the Western Hockey League in 2011-12. He set career highs in goals, assists, points, plus/minus rating and games played, while leading club defensemen in assists and points (12th-WHL) and ranking second in goals. He added 0-7-7, 12 penalty minutes and was +2 in nine playoff games.
Columbus’ sixth pick, 124th overall, in the 2010 Entry Draft, Madaisky has collected 29-84-113, 281 penalty minutes and a +6 cumulative plus/minus rating in 238 career WHL games with Kamloops and Calgary. The Surrey, British Columbia native has totaled 3-10-13 and 20 penalty minutes in 15 career WHL playoff games.
