2012 NHL Draft To Be Held This Friday And Saturday At CONSOL Energy Center In Pittsburgh

The Columbus Blue Jackets hold the rights to eight picks, including the second overall pick of the first round, at the 2012 National Hockey League Draft, which will be held at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. The Blue Jackets also have a conditional 2012 or 2013 first round pick acquired from Los Angeles with defenseman Jack Johnson in exchange for center Jeff Carter. The first round of the draft will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, June 22, with rounds 2-7 held on Saturday, June 23, beginning at 10 a.m. ET. Below is a round-by-round look at the picks currently held by the Blue Jackets:

1st Round: No. 2, No. 30 (*conditional from LA)

2nd Round: No. 31, No. 45 (from PHX)

3rd Round: No. 62

4th Round: No. 95 (from VAN), No. 117 (from VAN)

5th Round: None

6th Round: No. 152

7th Round: No. 182

The 2012 Draft will be Columbus’ 13th since becoming a member of the NHL. The club has selected the following players with their previous 11 first round selections:

2000 (No. 4): Rostislav Klesla, Defense

2001 (No. 8): Pascal Leclaire, Goaltender

2002 (No. 1): Rick Nash, Left Wing

2003 (No. 4): Nikolai Zherdev, Right Wing

2004 (No. 8): Alexandre Picard, Left Wing

2005 (No. 6): Gilbert Brule, Center

2006 (No. 6): Derick Brassard, Center

2007 (No. 7): Jakub Voracek, Right Wing

2008 (No. 6): Nikita Filatov, Left Wing

2009 (No. 21): John Moore, Defense

2010 (No. 4): Ryan Johansen, Center

2011 (No. 8): Pick traded to Philadelphia
