Boll agrees to terms on a two-year, $2.1 million contract through 2013-14 campaign

The Columbus Blue Jackets have agreed to terms with right wing Jared Boll to a two-year, $2.1 million contract, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Boll will earn $950,000 in 2012-13 and $1.15 million in 2013-14.
Boll, 26, registered two goals and one assist for three points with 126 penalty minutes in 54 games with the Blue Jackets in 2011-12. He ranked second among on the club and 15th in the NHL in penalty minutes. In 2010-11, he recorded 7-5-12 and 182 penalty minutes in 73 games and set a career high in goals and ranked seventh in the NHL in penalty minutes.
“Jared is a hard-working, honest player who gives everything he has every time he steps on the ice,” said Howson. “He has also been a great ambassador in our community and we are happy that he will continue to be a Blue Jacket.”
Columbus’ fourth pick, 101st overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, Boll has registered 22-24-46 and 863 penalty minutes in 345 career NHL games. He set career highs in assists and points in 2008-09 with 4-10-14 and 180 penalty minutes in 75 games. During his rookie season in 2007-08, he tallied 5-5-10 and 226 penalty minutes to rank second in the NHL in penalty minutes.
Prior to his professional career, the Charlotte, North Carolina native played two seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. He totaled 47-49-156, 403 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +16 in 131 career OHL games. In 2005-06, he was named the Whalers’ Labatt Blue Collar Player of the Year en route to helping the club win the OHL championship and earn a berth in the Memorial Cup. He also spent two seasons with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League from 2003-05 and notched 29-32-61 and 470 penalty minutes in 116 games.
