The first Skyline Chili CHC Game of the Week of 2013 will take place at the Chiller Easton at 6 p.m. Saturday between division opponents Worthington Kilbourne and Bishop Watterson.

This will be the first of two match-ups between these two teams this season, and both games are likely to be “must-wins” for each side. Both teams compete in the Blue Division of the Capital Hockey Conference, which is enough to make tensions a little high going into this game. Adding to that is the fact that Kilbourne is only two points away from tying Watterson for second place in the division

This is the second consecutive weekend as a participant in the Skyline Chili high school game of the week for the Wolves, which is a program that has grown significantly in the past few years.

“We’re not a powerhouse, but this year, we’re competitive,” Kilbourne head coach Paul Roman said. “Our program is building, and our whole team is earning respect from the community.”

The Eagles are another team undergoing a growth spurt over the past few years.

Kilbourne is the lone date on Watterson's calendar this weekend, while Saturday’s game is one of three games on the weekend for the Wolves, who play Olentangy on Friday and Olentangy Liberty on Sunday at the Chiller North.

For the Wolves, their toughest challenge will be putting the puck behind Aaron King, who has been a stellar performer in net for the Eagles this season. Roman said his team will have to put a lot of shots on net if they hope to win the game.

Bishop Watterson has struggled in spite of King's strong season between the pipes, holding an overall record of 3-8-1 through eight games. Worthington Kilbourne enters the weekend with a 7-8-0 record through six games of league play.

Still, the division title (currently held by Gahanna-Lincoln) is wide open, according to Roman.

“We have the opportunity to pick up a lot of wins in January,” Roman said, adding that his team’s goal is to get a berth in the Blue Jackets Cup at the end of the season.

Only one team from the Blue Division gets a chance to compete for the cup, while the other teams are automatically entered into the consolation bid.

A win against Bishop Watterson this weekend would be a huge step towards achieving that goal.
