Blue Jackets activate Nikita Nikitin off injured reserve
Nikitin missed three games due to an upper body injury suffered Jan. 29 at Minnesota
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Nikita Nikitin off Injured Reserve, club Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Nikitin is expected to return to the lineup tonight vs. Calgary after missing the past three games due to an upper body injury suffered at Minnesota on January 29.
Nikitin has collected two assists and six penalty minutes in seven games this season. In 2011-12, he set career highs in goals, assists, points and games played when he registered seven goals and 25 assists for 32 points in 61 games with the Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues. All of his scoring came in 54 games as a Blue Jacket after he was acquired in a trade that sent defenseman Kris Russell to St. Louis on Nov. 11, 2011.
