The 36th Annual Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) state ice hockey semifinals and championship game are set to be played at Nationwide Arena on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9, marking the 11th consecutive year that the tournament will been held at the home of the Columbus Blue Jackets. In addition to the high school games, the hockey-filled weekend also includes a Saturday matinee for the Blue Jackets as they host the Detroit Red Wings at 2 p.m.
The tournament, which began with 81 teams, is down to its final four teams with the winners of each district – Shaker Heights (Brooklyn), Rocky River (Kent), Sylvania Northview (Sylvania) and Powell Olentangy Liberty (Columbus) – advancing to the semifinals. The complete weekend schedule follows:
4 p.m. – Semifinal: Sylvania Northview vs. Powell Olentangy Liberty
2 p.m. – Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Detroit Red Wings
7 p.m. – OHSAA Championship game
Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will televise both semifinal games live on Friday with Blue Jackets broadcasters Bill Davidge and Bob McElligott calling the action. For the fifth straight year, Sports Time Ohio (STO) will televise the championship game to a statewide audience with a tape-delayed telecast on Sunday, March 10 at 4 p.m. Bob McElligott will be joined by John Mowat for the title game.
