Blue Jackets Celebrate Military Appreciation Night on Sunday, April 7
The Columbus Blue Jackets will salute those who have served or are currently serving in the nation’s armed forces during Military Appreciation Night on Sunday, April 7 when the Jackets host the Minnesota Wild at Nationwide Arena. Game time is 6 p.m. The evening will feature multiple tributes, recognition of all service branches, and a charitable auction of the camouflage-style jerseys that will be worn by the Blue Jackets players during pre-game warm-ups.

Fans are encouraged to take their seats early for a pre-game video honoring service members past and present. The video is highlighted by the personal military connections of several Blue Jackets players, coaches, season ticket holders, game-night staff and other Blue Jackets personalities. The evening will also include recognition of all current and former military personnel in attendance.

Before the game, the 338th U.S. Army Band will entertain fans on the concourse and then perform the National Anthem at ice level. In addition, six local children from the 684th ASMC Family Readiness Group will be treated to rides on the Zamboni® and several active duty members representing the USO of Central Ohio will have the opportunity to watch pre-game warm-ups from the penalty boxes.

As a show of support and gratitude for all active and retired service members, Blue Jackets players will wear specially designed camouflage-style jerseys during pre-game warm-ups. The complete set of authentic worn jerseys will be individually autographed by the respective players and available for bidding in a silent auction through the end of the second intermission. The signed jerseys will be displayed on the arena’s Bud Light Terrace outside Section 115.

All jerseys will have a starting bid of $150 with proceeds being split between the Blue Jackets Foundation and The Ohio State University’s Student Veterans Affairs Fund, which awards scholarships for OSU student veterans. In addition to the individual jerseys that will be available via auction, there will be one team-signed jersey that will be raffled. Fans may purchase raffle tickets for $20.

On this night, the participating charity for the Blue Jackets Foundation’s 50/50 Raffle will be Operation Buckeye, a local organization that sends troops boxes containing food and snacks, personal hygiene items, reading materials and messages of support. Near the end of the game, one lucky winner will win 50% of the total raffle sales with the other half supporting Operation Buckeye and the Blue Jackets Foundation. Tickets priced at one for $2, three for $5, ten for $10, and 40 for $20 will be sold at multiple locations throughout the arena.
