The Columbus Blue Jackets today announced that defenseman James Wisniewski
has been activated off of Injured Reserve. Wisniewski missed 14 games while he recovered from a broken foot suffered on Feb. 24 during a road game vs. Chicago. Columbus has also placed forward Brandon Dubinsky
on IR retroactive to March 22. Dubinsky has missed the last three games with a lower body injury.
Wisniewski has recorded three goals and six assists for nine points with two penalty minutes in 15 appearances this season. The 6-0, 208-pound blueliner led the Blue Jackets with three power play goals and ranked fifth on the club in points at the time of his injury. Originally acquired by Columbus in a trade with Montréal on June 29, 2011, Wisniewski has tallied 36-148-184 in 392 career NHL games with the Blackhawks, Ducks, Islanders, Canadiens and Blue Jackets. The 29-year-old native of Canton, Michigan appeared in 48 games and tallied 6-21-27 while leading the Blue Jackets in Time On Ice (24:47/game) in 2011-12, his first season in Columbus.
Dubinsky, 26, has recorded 1-8-9 in 19 appearances with Columbus this season. The 6-1, 210-pound native of Anchorage, Alaska also missed 11 games between Feb. 18 and Mar. 10 with a knee injury. Acquired by the Blue Jackets in a trade with the Rangers last summer, Dubinsky has appeared in 412 career NHL games with New York and Columbus, tallying 82-140-222.
