The Columbus Blue Jackets announced tonight that the team has acquired forward Blake Comeau from the Calgary Flames in exchenge for a fifth round pick at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. “We are excited to add Blake Comeau to our hockey club and believe he will fit in perfectly with our style of play,” said Kekalainen. “He is a physical, hard-hitting forward who has also shown the ability to score goals.” Comeau, 27, has appeared in 33 games with Calgary this season, recording 4-3-7 and 14 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 205 right winger has recorded 65-78-143 in 352 career NHL games with the Flames and Islanders, who selected him in the second round, 47th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. In 2009-10, he tallied 17-18-35 and 40 penalty minutes in 61 games and the following season registered a career-high 24-22-46 with 43 penalty minutes in 77 outings. A native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Comeau won a Memorial Cup championship with the Western Hockey League’s Kelowna Rockets in 2004 and captured Gold with Team Canada at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championships.
