Blue Jackets re-sign Artem Anisimov to three-year contract extension
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed forward Artem Anisimov to a three-year contract extension through the 2015-16 National Hockey League season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
“Artem is a big part of our team and we’re very pleased to sign him to this extension,” said Kekalainen. “He’s an extremely dependable two-way center with a dynamic skill set and we think he will be a key contributor to our club in the coming years."
Anisimov, 25, recorded 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in 35 games last season, his first with the Blue Jackets. He led the team in even-strength goals (10), shootout goals (4) and shooting percentage (16.2), while ranking third in faceoff wins (249) and blocked shots by a forward (24-tied).
Acquired by Columbus in a trade with the New York Rangers last summer, Anisimov was originally selected by New York in the second round, 54th overall, at the 2006 NHL Draft. The 6’4”, 200-lb. center has tallied 57-69-126 in 279 career NHL games. He has also collected 53-71-124 in 154 career American Hockey League games and 14-26-40 in 85 career KHL/RSL games with his hometown Yaroslavl Lokomotiv.
Anisimov has represented Russia at several international tournaments including the 2010 (silver medal) and 2013 IIHF World Championships, the 2007 (silver) and 2008 (bronze) IIHF World Junior Championships and the 2006 IIHF World U-18 Championships.
