Blue Jackets to hold development camp from July 9-12 at OhioHealth Ice Haus



COLUMBUS, OHIO –
The Columbus Blue Jackets will conduct their annual development camp for prospects at the OhioHealth Ice Haus, the club’s practice facility at Nationwide Arena, from Tuesday, July 9 through Friday, July 12, the team announced today. This year’s development camp will begin with medicals and fitness testing as well as an on-ice session on Tuesday, July 9, followed by two full days of on and off-ice workouts. Players will undergo exit physicals and interviews and depart on July 12, while the club’s goaltending prospects will wrap up their portion of the camp on Saturday, July 13.


UPDATE: SportsTime Ohio's "All Bets Are Off" with Bruce Drennan will broadcast LIVE from Tim Horton's outside Nationwide Arena on Tuesday, July 9 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Bruce will be joined by special Blue Jackets guests, and fans are encouraged to stop by and check out the show!

Conducting the on-ice sessions will be Springfield Falcons (AHL) Head Coach Brad Larsen and Assistant Coaches Nolan Pratt and Jared Bednar, along with Blue Jackets Goaltending Coach Ian Clark and Development Coach Chris Clark. On-ice sessions, which are open to the public, and media availability times are listed below:

On-Ice: 9:30-10:15 a.m. (goalies only); 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. (all players)

On-Ice: 9-10:30 a.m. (all players); 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. (goalies only)
Media availability: 11:15 a.m.; 12:45 p.m.


Among the 31 prospects scheduled to participate in this year’s development camp are all eight players selected at last weekend’s 2013 NHL Draft: first round picks C Alexander Wennberg (Djurgarden/SWE-2, No. 14), LW Kerby Rychel (Windsor/OHL, No. 19) and RW Marko Dano (HC Slovan/KHL, No. 27) as well as D Dillon Heatherington (Swift Current/WHL, No. 50), RW Oliver Bjorkstrand (Portland/WHL, No. 89), RW Nick Moutrey (Saginaw/OHL, No. 105), RW Markus Soberg (Frolunda/SWE-Jr., No. 165) and C Peter Quenneville (Dubuque/USHL, No. 195). Columbus’ top pick from the 2012 NHL Draft, D Ryan Murray (Everett/WHL, No. 2), and the club’s first selection from the 2011 NHL Draft, C Boone Jenner (Oshawa/WHL, No. 37), will also be in attendance.
