Foligno brings energy to camp
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- While several new and old faces are getting back into the swing of things during Blue Jackets training camp, Nick Foligno is just happy to return to the ice with his teammates.
"It's good to be back," Foligno told BlueJackets.com. "Camp has been a lot of fun so far. The past two practices have been pretty tough though, but we're getting back in the rhythm and getting excited for the season to start.”

Foligno spent most of the second day of on-ice sessions pushing around Derek MacKenzie, celebrating goals he and his linemates scored and joking with the guys between drills. His lighthearted approach and energy translated into a great day of practice for him, as he scored multiple goals and emerged as one of the day's fastest skaters.
“I like to have fun and it shows," said Foligno. "We work so hard and I think we should be allowed to enjoy ourselves. Hockey is a fun sport and if you’re not having fun, you’re not at your best."
Though Foligno likes to enjoy himself and crack jokes, he knows there is a time to be serious and focus on the tasks at hand.
"I like to be loose out there, but I still work hard and make sure I’m focused on the drills," said Foligno. "But when the guys see me out there having fun, it rubs off on everyone and makes it more of a fun environment to be around.”
At the end of the session, Foligno encouraged the guys to stay out there with him and run a few additional drills. His energy fueled friendly competition during a one-timer contest and by the end of the drills, several other players were dishing the comments right back at Foligno.
With the season right around the corner, Foligno wants to continue to be the player who brings the energy to both the ice and the locker room and hopes the fun translates into a successful season.
“It’s just part of my nature to be that way," said Foligno. "It’s not anything different I’m trying to do; it’s just me having fun out there. It’s fun to be playing on the ice with the guys and I’ll definitely try to carry that on into the season."
"This year is going to be a lot of fun.”
