Blue Jackets, Papa John's announce multi-year renewal and expansion of corporate partnership
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets and Papa John’s Pizza announced today the multiyear renewal and expansion of the corporate partnership that ensures the world’s third-largest pizza company’s continued designation as the official pizza of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Papa John’s has been affiliated with the hockey club since the 2011-12 season.
The partnership encompasses a host of in-market and in-game promotions as well as ice-level and electronic in-arena messaging. The signature promotion for the 2013-14 season is JACKETS25. When the Blue Jackets score two or more goals during any home or road game, fans are eligible to receive 25% off orders that are placed online at papajohns.com the next day. The offer will be in effect regardless of the outcome of the game and fans must enter promo code JACKETS25 to receive the discount.
Another component of JACKETS25 is a game-day Twitter promotion in which fans are invited to Tweet their guess for which player will score the Jackets second goal of the game which will trigger the JACKETS25 offer for the next-day discount. Up to three fans with the correct answer will be randomly selected to receive a Papa John’s Meal Deal that includes two large pizzas, a dessert pie, a T-shirt, and soda.
“We’re very happy to extend our partnership with Papa John’s Central Ohio franchise group for years to come,” said A.J. Poole, Columbus Blue Jackets vice president of corporate development. “Papa John’s places a great priority on direct fan engagement as evidenced by their varied promotions that reach our fans in the stands and in their homes, in the youth hockey community, and in the high school and college student population.”
“It’s been a very exciting and collaborative partnership,” said Charles Burris, Operating Partner for the Central Ohio franchise group for Papa John’s Pizza. “This extension, that comes over a year ahead of schedule, ensures we’ll keep the fun going with the community and fans alike!”
Fans will also notice the return of in-game pizza giveaways as well as the popular “Papa John’s Future Jackets” on-ice intermission feature that showcases local youth hockey players. The partnership further reaches the youth hockey and skating community with messaging at the OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks and presenting sponsorship of Chiller birthday parties held at the suburban rinks.
Another element of the partnership includes presentation of CBJ Student RUSH, a program offering specially priced tickets to high school and college students beginning one hour before every home game. Each ticket purchased includes a free offer from Papa John’s.
Fans attending Blue Jackets games and special events at Nationwide Arena will see a new dessert offering at Papa John’s concession stands. Papa’s new Chocolate Chip Cookie, filled with rich chocolate chips, is baked fresh and cut into eight slices. The dessert is served warm and ready to eat.
Also, when the Blue Jackets celebrate their 13th National Hockey League Opening Night on Friday, Oct. 4 against the Calgary Flames, all fans in attendance will receive a 2013-14 Blue Jackets magnet schedule courtesy of Papa John’s.
