By The Numbers: Blue Jackets vs. Sabres
This edition of By The Numbers features interesting facts, statistics and notable numbers for the Oct. 10 Blue Jackets vs Buffalo Sabres regular season NHL hockey game in Buffalo, New York.

Welcome to the newest post-game series on BlueJackets.com: By The Numbers. Here, we'll break down the most important facts, figures and statistics from that night's game. Despite the final score, there's more to the game's story than the numbers on the scoreboard.

Here's a look at some of the most interesting and notable statistics and numbers in the battle between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo, NY:

-9 - Sabres' defenseman Mike Weber's plus-minus rating through five games in the 2013-14 regular season. He was -4 in tonight's game.

3 - Ryan Murray's plus-minus rating tonight. He was on the ice for three of the Blue Jackets' four goals and contributed on both ends of the ice. He definitely looked like a first round NHL Draft pick tonight.

5 - Shots on goal taken by both Marian Gaborik (three on the power play) and Cam Atkinson; both finished the night with multi-point games.

6 -
Major fighting penalties assessed in an all-around physical game. Boll, Foligno, Prout for the Blue Jackets; Kaleta, McCormick, Weber for the Sabres all sat five minutes for dropping the gloves.

7 - Shots on goal for the Blue Jackets' power play unit, nearly double the shot total they'd had through two games in the regular season.

9:48 - Combined PP ice time for CBJ defensemen Jack Johnson and James Wisniewski, who were solid anchors on the top power play unit. Though they didn't score a power play goal, they led the charge in the offensive zone on special teams.

26:02 - The number of minutes played by Sabres' defenseman Christian Erhoff, who was on the ice for the Sabres' lone goal and none of the goals scored by the Blue Jackets. He finished plus-1.

26 - Shots stopped by Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who ended the night with a  0.963 save percentage.

100 -
Days until the Blue Jackets and Sabres will meet again (Jan. 10 at Nationwide Arena).
