By The Numbers: Bruins vs. Blue Jackets
The most interesting and important facts, figures, numbers and statistics from the Oct. 12 game between the Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

Welcome to the newest post-game series on BlueJackets.com: By The Numbers. Here, we'll break down the most important facts, figures and statistics from that night's game. Despite the final score, there's more to the game's story than the numbers on the scoreboard.

Here's a look at some of the most interesting and notable statistics and numbers in the battle between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Boston Bruins at Nationwide Arena:

1:14 - the time left to play in the game when the crucial (and possibly questionable) off-sides call was made against the Blue Jackets. Just 41 seconds later, the Bruins scored the empty-netter to secure the win.

2 - Sticks broken by Bruins right winger Jerome Iginla. One snapped blocking a shot on the penalty kill; the other from taking a shot on the power play.

3 - David Savard's plus-minus rating for the regular season. He has the highest of all Blue Jackets players and was even today during 17:42 of ice time.

3 - Points for Jack Johnson on the power play--all of his points so far in the regular season.

10 - Blocked shots in the regular season for Columbus defenseman Ryan Murray, who had 4 in this afternoon's match-up, including a few big ones on the penalty kill and when protecting the Blue Jackets' lead in the first period.

10 - Penalty minutes for Jared Boll over the last two games, comprised of two 5-minute fighting majors.

11:29 - Combined ice time for Blake Comeau and Jared Boll. Comeau played 4:27 due to a second-period injury and Boll was on the ice for four fewer minutes than he played Thursday against the Sabres.

14 -
Players for either team with three or more shots on goal. Loui Eriksson led all skaters with 6 SOG and Marian Gaborik led the Blue Jackets with 5 SOG.

19:03 - Fedor Tyutin's total ice time in his first game of the regular season for the Blue Jackets. He finished the night -1, but played a solid defensive game.

57 - Total hits. The Blue Jackets just edged the Bruins in that category, 29 to 28.

83 - Brandon Dubinsky's face-off win percentage in the defensive zone this afternoon. He finished the game with a 63 percent in the face-off circle.

110 -
Total shots attempted in this afternoon's game (58 for Boston, 52 for Columbus). Only 63 of those shots made it to the net.
