Community Spotlight: Oct. 31
EDITOR'S NOTE: This is our weekly look around the #CBJ community to see what's being talked about, debated, and highlighted by the greatest fans in the National Hockey League. Have a suggestion or submission for next week's edition? Hit up @RobMixer on Twitter and let him know.
Happy Friday, everyone!
And a happy "Hockey Halloween," as well. I have absolutely no ideas for a costume and thankfully there aren't any costume parties on the docket for me, because a) I'm bad at making a decision and b) I'm not sure what I would dress as. The Blue Jackets, on the other hand, are gearing up for a big home-and-home series this weekend against the Pittsburgh Penguins and it gets underway tomorrow night at CONSOL Energy Center.
Hopefully, this match-up doesn't need much time to develop into an entertaining rivalry, but we'll definitely need a story line or two to take shape along the way. As Todd Richards and some of the players said earlier this week: rivalries don't just happen, something makes them happen. We'll find out where this one's headed soon enough.
On the digital front, there has been (to no one's surprise) plenty of great coverage from around the #CBJ community in the past week, both recapping the win over Toronto and the disappointing loss to Anaheim, and also taking a wider scope in looking at the team's young players and their development.
That's plenty of me talking...here are the links:
- SB Nation's Cannon blog has the lowdown on Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen being named assistant GM of Finland's 2014 Olympic team. You can read the story here.
- Here's the latest from our friend CBJ Prospects, and you guessed it: it's this week's "week in review" for Blue Jackets prospects playing around the world.
- Mark Huss, editor of Union & Blue, examines the Jackets' early-season playoff hopes and breaks down some of the scenarios they may face down the road.
- FOX Sports Ohio's Rick Gethin sits down with Jackets forward Cam Atkinson and discusses how he's feeling after last year's ankle injury, playing with new line mates, and more.
