Blue Jackets place Marian Gaborik on injured reserve, Sean Collins assigned to Springfield (AHL)
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Marian Gaborik on Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced tonight. Gaborik is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks due to a sprained knee suffered in Thursday’s game at Boston. The Blue Jackets have also reassigned forward Sean Collins to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Gaborik, 31, has tallied five goals and six assists for 11 points with six penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 17 games this season. He is among four players tied for the team lead in goals and is also tied for third on the club points list. He has registered 341-344-685 and 410 penalty minutes in 786 career games with the Blue Jackets, New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild. Acquired by Columbus from New York on Apr. 3, 2013, he has collected 8-11-19 and 12 penalty minutes in 29 games with the club.
Collins, 24, has recorded 0-1-1 and a +1 plus/minus rating in five appearances with Columbus this season. He has also tallied 2-3-5 and a +4 rating in nine games played with Springfield in 2013-14.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Sunday when they open a five-game road trip against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre.
