By The Numbers: Oilers vs. Blue Jackets
A statistical breakdown of the Nov. 29 game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers at Nationwide Arena.

Welcome to By The Numbers. Here, we'll break down the most important facts, figures and statistics from that night's game. Despite the final score, there's more to the game's story than the numbers on the scoreboard.

Here's a look at some of the most notable statistics and numbers from the Blue Jackets' 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers at Nationwide Arena:

2 - The magic number of shots for tonight's Blue Jackets offense. It took two shots to score the first goal of the game. The Blue Jackets then scored their third goal of the night two shots after the second goal, then scored the fourth goal two shots following that goal.

2 - NHL games played this season by Oilers' goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. He recorded a shutout in the first game (last night) and was chased to start the third period after allowing four goals on 23 shots.

3 - Times the @BlueJacketsNHL Twitter account has been in Twitter jail for exceeding the tweet limit during a game in the past month. The account was shut down during the second half of the third period and returned to action when the final horn sounded.

10 - The number of Blue Jackets players who recorded points tonight: Anisimov, Atkinson, Calvert, Foligno, Jenner, Johansen, Prout, Skille, Tropp and Tyutin.

12 - Power play shots by the Blue Jackets on five power plays. They capitalized on two of those chances.

12 - The number of penalties called during the game, all of which were minor penalties. Both teams scored on at least one opportunity--the Oilers went 1-of-7 and the Blue Jackets were 2-of-5.

20 - The number of seconds in the game it took the Blue Jackets to commit their first penalty--a two-minute minor to Boone Jenner for interference.

26 - Corey Tropp's new number with the Blue Jackets. In his first game, he recorded one assist, one hit, one takeaway and one blocked shot. He finished the night plus-1.

92 - Goals allowed by the Oilers this season--the most allowed by a team in the NHL.

8,045 -
The number of minutes Sergei Bobrovsky has played in his NHL career. He also surpassed four thousand shots faced tonight (4,008).
