Blue Jackets prospects Kerby Rychel and Josh Anderson are among the 25 players selected to participate in Hockey Canada\u2019s National Junior Team selection camp.

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets prospects Kerby Rychel and Josh Anderson are among the 25 players selected to participate in Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp, Hockey Canada in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, announced today. The camp will begin on Thursday, December 12 at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Etobicoke, Ontario.

The 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships will be held in Malmo, Sweden from December 26, 2013 through January 5, 2014. More information on this event can be obtained by visiting worldjunior2014.com.

Rychel, 19, currently serves as team captain for the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires. He has tallied 16-23-39 in 27 games this season, ranking first on the Spitfires and 13th in the OHL in scoring. In 225 career OHL games with Windsor and Mississauga, Rychel has recorded 104-117-221 and 236 penalty minutes.

Columbus’ second pick, 19th overall, at the 2013 NHL Draft, Rychel scored 40 goals for Windsor in 2012-13 and finished tied for eighth in the league with 87 points in 68 games. The 6-1, 203-pound winger represented Canada at the 2012 IIHF U-18 World Championship, tying for the team lead in goals (5) and capturing a bronze medal. He served as an alternate captain at the 2011 U-18 Junior World Cup and helped Team Canada win gold.

Anderson, 19, has recorded 13-11-24 in 27 games played with the OHL’s London Knights this season. He leads the club with six power play goals and ranks fifth in scoring. The Burlington, Ontario native has tallied 48-47-95 and a +39 plus/minus rating in 159 career OHL games with the Knights.

Columbus’ fourth pick, 95th overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft, Anderson signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets on November 5. He has helped the Knights capture the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions each of the past two seasons. The 6-3, 207-pound forward has tallied 1-1-2 in seven career Memorial Cup appearances with the Knights and London will participate in the Canadian Hockey League’s championship tournament for a third-straight year in 2014 as the franchise/city will serve as event hosts.
