Blue Jackets recall Cody Bass, activate/re-assign Jack Skille to Springfield
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Cody Bass from the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The club has also activated forward Jack Skille off Injured Reserve and assigned him to Springfield. Skille has been on IR since Dec. 31 with an upper body injury.
Bass, 27, has scored two goals and dished out seven assists for nine points with 61 penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating in 26 games with Springfield this season. The 6-0, 210-pound forward has appeared in 48 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Ottawa Senators, recording 2-3-5, 66 penalty minutes and 50 hits.
Ottawa’s third pick, 95th overall, at the 2005 NHL Draft, Bass has appeared in 237 career AHL games with Springfield and the Binghamton Senators, registering 25-41-66 and 474 penalty minutes. He won the Calder Cup with Binghamton in 2011, the same year he received the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award as the AHL’s Man of the Year.
Signed by Columbus as a free agent in July 2013, Skille has tallied four goals, including one game-winner, dished out 14 hits and recorded a +2 plus/minus rating in 12 appearances with the Jackets this season. He has also registered 2-1-3 and a +1 rating in six AHL games with the Falcons.
Skille, 26, was Chicago’s first pick, seventh overall, at the 2005 NHL Draft. The 6-1, 215-pound winger has recorded 24-29-53 and 77 penalty minutes in 190 NHL career games with the Blue Jackets, Blackhawks and Florida Panthers.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday when the Philadelphia Flyers visit Nationwide Arena for a Metropolitan Division battle in what will be the 1,000th regular season game in franchise history.
