Blue Jackets activate Blake Comeau off IR, recall defenseman Tim Erixon from Springfield Falcons
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated forward Blake Comeau off Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Comeau has missed the last eight games with a sprained knee. The Blue Jackets have also recalled defenseman Tim Erixon from the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons.
Comeau, 27, has scored three goals and dished out eight assists for 11 points in 43 games played with Columbus this season. He currently ranks second on the team in hits with 131. In 404 career NHL games played with the Blue Jackets, Flames and Islanders, Comeau has recorded 70-89-159 in addition to 208 penalty minutes and 691 hits.
Erixon, 22, has registered 4-19-23 and a +6 plus/minus rating in 25 games played with Springfield in 2013-14. He skated in two games for Columbus earlier this season, recording one blocked shot, one hit and one shot on goal in 28:41 of action. In 51 career NHL appearances with the Blue Jackets and Rangers, Erixon has tallied 0-7-7, 24 penalty minutes and a +4 rating. He has registered 12-73-85, 88 PIM, +20 in 116 career AHL games with the Falcons and Connecticut Whale.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Monday when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes for a Metropolitan Division battle. Game time is 7 p.m. from PNC Arena.
