Welcome to By The Numbers. Here, we'll break down the most important facts, figures and statistics from that night's game. Despite the final score, there's more to the game's story than the numbers on the scoreboard.

Here's a look at some of the most notable statistics and numbers from the Blue Jackets' 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals at Nationwide Arena:

0.938 - Sergei Bobrovsky's save percentage tonight, as he stopped 30 of 32 shots on goal, including stopping 19 of 20 shots on goal in the third period. He now has eight wins in January, eight Metropolitan Division victories this season and 11 wins in his last 16 home starts.

4 -
Blue Jackets players recorded multiple points tonight: Ryan Johansen (two goals), Brandon Dubinsky (goal and assist) Fedor Tyutin (two assists) and Jack Johnson (two assists).

5 - Game streak in which the Capitals have outshot their opponents. They've outshot teams 522-461 in that span, but have a 2-3-0 record in those five games.

-5 - Alex Ovechkin's plus-minus rating tonight. He was on the ice for every Blue Jackets goal.

10 - Points this month for Ryan Murray, who took sole possession of first place in January scoring for NHL rookie defensemen with an assist tonight. All 10 of those points are assists.

15 - Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson's individual plus-minus ratings over a 22 game span against Metropolitan Division opponents. They're tied for first in the NHL in that statistic.

20 - Points earned in the standings for the Blue Jackets in January. That is just the third time in franchise history that they have accumulated 20 points in a single month. The other times? March 2013 and December 2006.

21 - Goals for Ryan Johansen this season--the first 20 goal season of his NHL career.

25 - Points for Brandon Dubinsky against Metropolitan Division opponents this season. He has recorded nine goals and 16 assists in those 22 divisional games, including two points tonight.

58 - Combined penalty minutes in tonight's game--a season high for the Blue Jackets in a game and a season high penalty minute total for the entire team, as they sat in the box for 34 minutes.
