Power Rankings pres. by YP: Feb. 3
EDITOR'S NOTE: You've arrived at the CBJ Power Rankings, our weekly breakdown of the top-five players, statistics, trends and many other Blue Jackets-related categories. If you're looking for the traditional power rankings, you've come to the wrong place. We'll go in-depth and outside the box, and hopefully give you something to think about.
For this week's rankings, we're talking about everyone's best friend. That's right...the shootout! We often find ourselves in a love/hate relationship with the best-of-three breakaway competition, but it's one way to accumulate the extra point in the NHL and some teams are just better at it than others. Is it star power and skill, or is a top-flight goaltender the X-factor? This week, we''re breaking down the NHL's five best team save percentages in the shootout. Spoiler alert: the Blue Jackets make this list.
Let's take a closer look at the top five, shall we?
SHOOTOUT STATS: 13 SHOTS, 13 SAVES
Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has established himself as one of the quickest and most athletic goaltenders in the NHL. By that token, is it a surprise that he's not been beaten in the shootout this season? The Penguins, as a team, have not yielded a shootout goal in 2013-14 and a big part of that has been Fleury.
