Blue Jackets Host First Responders Night on Thursday, March 13

The Columbus Blue Jackets and forward Nathan Horton honor the service and dedication of central Ohio police officers, firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) providers during the hockey club’s First Responders Night on Thursday, March 13 when the Jackets host the San Jose Sharks at Nationwide Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.

As the son of a police officer, Horton has offered his gratitude to those who serve and protect in central Ohio by donating 1,000 tickets for this game to Franklin County police officers, firefighters, EMS providers and their families. “It takes a special kind of person to serve and protect us the way these men and women do every day,” said Horton. “I’m proud of my dad and the work he has done his whole life and I’m very happy to be able to give some of our local first responders a night out with their families.”

On this night, all first responders in attendance will be recognized and some will take part in game-night experiences. In addition, fans will be treated to pre-game and intermission performances by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Pipes & Drums while the Whitehall Division of Police and Division of Fire Honor Guard will participate in the presentation of the national anthem alongside singer Leo Welsh. Also on this night, the Blue Jackets extend a special discounted ticket offer to all eligible first responders. For more information, visit www.BlueJackets.com/firstresponders
