Blue Jackets activate defenseman Fedor Tyutin off injured reserve
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Fedor Tyutin off Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Tyutin suffered an ankle injury while playing for Russia at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia and has missed the Jackets’ last nine games.
Tyutin, 30, has tallied four goals and 20 assists for 24 points with 30 penalty minutes and a +6 plus/minus rating in 53 games with Columbus this season. He ranks fourth on the club in plus/minus rating and is third among defensemen in points. In 659 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and New York Rangers, he has registered 50-181-231 and 428 penalty minutes.
A native of Ivhevsk, Russia, Tyutin collected four penalty minutes and was +1 in five outings at this year’s Olympic Games. The three-time Olympian also represented his country at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Italy and the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they visit the Minnesota Wild. Game time from the Xcel Energy Center is 8 p.m. ET.
