Blue Jackets sign 2013 first-round pick Marko Dano to three-year, entry-level contract
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Marko Dano to a three-year entry level contract, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Dano, 19, was Columbus’ third first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, selected 27th overall.
A native of Eisenstadt, Austria, Dano registered six goals and six assists for 12 points with 67 penalty minutes in 78 career games with HC Slovan Bratislava of the Kontinental Hockey League over the past two seasons. In 41 games in 2013-14, he has collected 3-2-5 and 41 penalty minutes.
Dano has also represented Slovakia at numerous international competitions, including the past three World Junior Championship tournaments. The 5-11, 183-pound forward has registered 7-8-15 and 22 penalty minutes in 17 career games at the WJC tournament, including 4-5-9 and 12 penalty minutes in six games in 2013. In this year’s tournament, he served as an assistant captain and collected 2-1-3 and four penalty minutes in five games.
The Blue Jackets return to game action on Saturday when they visit the Minnesota Wild. Game time from Xcel Energy Center is 8 p.m. ET.
