The Numbers: Game 4
A statistical breakdown of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup quarterfinal series between the Blue Jackets and Penguins.

Welcome to "The Numbers," where we look beyond what's in the box score and explain how certain statistics really shaped the outcome.

In dramatic fashion, the Blue Jackets tied the series at two games apiece with a 4-3 overtime win over Pittsburgh. Here’s a look on how they did it:

6 - Number of penalties awarded to the two squads during the first 20 minutes. Four of the calls occurred within a 1:25 time span, with Artem Anisimov, David Savard, Chris Kunitz and James Neal all taking trips to the sin bin.

After three periods, the two sides combined for 11 infractions.

46 - The number of shots the Blue Jackets took in Game 4. That mark eclipses their average of 33 per game over the course of the last three contests.

22.5 - The amount of time left in the third period when Brandon Dubinsky lit the lamp to tie the game at 3-3. It was his second point of the game and his first goal of the series.

Nationwide Arena's sound level may have registered seismic readings.

4-3 - For the fourth time in the series, the winning team came out on top by a 4-3 margin.

In addition, the winning team has been forced to come back from a 3-1 deficit. The Jackets trailed 3-1 after a Boone Jenner goal with 4:21 left to play.

2:49 - The amount of time it took Nick Foligno to light the lamp in overtime and to send Blue Jackets Nation into a frenzy.
