By Brad Friedman  - BlueJackets.com

Welcome to The Numbers. Here, we'll break down the most important facts, figures and statistics from that night's game. Despite the final score, there's more to the game's story than the numbers on the scoreboard.

A heroic third period was not enough for the Blue Jackets to come out with the win. Pittsburgh came out on top 4-3, winning the series 4-2 and ending Columbus' season. Here are a look at the numbers behind Game 6 at Nationwide Arena...

3 - The number of goals scored by Penguins center Evgeni Malkin tonight. Prior to Game 4, Malkin had dished out four assists in the series but he had failed to light the lamp.

This also represents the number of goals scored by the Blue Jackets in the final period.

4:52 - The amount of time it took Fedor Tyutin, Artem Anisimov and Nick Foligno to score those three goals and put all 19,000-plus fans on edge for the final 4:47.

Bobrovsky was pulled for an extra skater with just under two minutes to play.

4 - The number of consecutive periods that the Blue Jackets were held scoreless, stemming back to game five.

Columbus averaged eight shots per period over the span. The chances were there, but no pucks managed to rock the netting.

18 - Number of shots registered by the Jackets in the final period. It was their second consecutive period with 10-plus shots on net.

30-29 - The face-off battle that was won by Columbus. Doesn't get much closer than that.

1 - One season that Blue Jackets fans will never forget.
