Blue Jackets announce opening games of 2014-15 regular season
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets will open the 2014-15 regular season on Thursday, October 9 against the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center with the club’s home-opener set for Saturday, October 11 against the New York Rangers, the club and National Hockey League announced today. The Metropolitan Division clash between the Blue Jackets and Rangers will begin at 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena. The remainder of the 2014-15 schedule is expected to be released on Sunday at 4 p.m.
This 2014-15 campaign will mark Columbus’ 14th in the NHL and is the fifth time in which the club will open the season on the road: 2012-13 (4-3 SOW at Nashville), 2008-09 (5-4 OTW at Dallas), 2005-06 (3-2 loss at Washington) and 2003-04 (2-1 loss at Atlanta).
In 2013-14, Columbus posted a record of 43-32-7 (93 pts.) to finish in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division and seventh place in the Eastern Conference. The Blue Jackets set franchise records for wins, points and road wins (21-17-3) and earned their second berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
